We’re not going to lie, us Melissa UK girls are a little jealous we missed out! x
Nicola Roberst is best known for her Girls Aloud fame, however more recently she has been making a name for herself in the fashion world!
Today Roberts is in every newspaper in the UK, for well…. looking pretty darn amazing!
We LOVE her shabby chic look, so effortless…. and we can’t be any more envious of that beautiful hair…
Here at Melissa HQ, we are very big fans of everything Emma Watson does (especially fans of her stunning style)
So imagine our delight to see her at the premiere of her new film ‘My Week With Marilyn’ wearing none other than a dress by our SS12 collaborator Jason Wu! She looked every inch the Hollywood superstar… but we can’t help thinking the Melissa + Jason Wu Lady Dragon would have been the perfect accompaniment to her show stopping outfit! x
Also spotted in today’s Metro newspaper was one of our Melissa stockists Atsuko Kudo, she specializes in latex clothing and has designed a dress that is being put on show at the renowned V&A museum in London, it will sit alongside couture pieces by Vivienne Westwood and even a dress worn by Princess Diana! x
Melissa HQ is lucky enough to be situated in the heart of London, which means we are always only a stones throw away from amazing exhibitions, like Shoes for Show:The Sculptural Art of High Heel that is currently being held just off Brick Lane.
This exhibition is a must see for all shoe lovers! It is a display of the most exquisite shoes ever made and demonstrate the artistic skills of their makers, like Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen, Manolo Blahnik and our very own Melissa collaborators Vivienne Westwood and Gareth Pugh.
The avid Melissa blog readers amongst you will remember our blog last week about the amazing Gareth Pugh shoes used in Beyonce’s recent ‘Run The World video’, well hold on to your seats….this shoe is on full display at the exhibition!
You can imagine the excitement while scrolling through Vogue.com that we see our very own collaboration with Gareth Pugh featured! It seems the collaboration is creating a huge buzz and we can understand why! The Aileron style is a completely new concept for Melissa and with Pugh’s signature style it was always going to be a winner!
Pugh says of the MAC collaboration…’ My limited edition line with MAC cosmetics is obviously something Im very excited about- thats been 2 years in the making, so its going to be great to see that come out in december…. just in time for christmas…. well at least I know what my mams getting this year!’
Yes your Mam and all the Melissa girls Gareth! x
The SS12 collaboration was launched at concept store Layers London. The launch party was filled with the creme de la creme of the fashion world, including J MASKREY, Johnny Blue Eyes, Judy Blame and of course man of the moment Gareth Pugh.
Melissa were lucky enough to have Richard Mortimer from PonyStep Magazine and the amazing Princess Julia DJ-ing at the event! The Melissa girls definitely had their dancing shoes on when the Spice Girls were launched through the speaker!
Pugh says of his collaboration with Melissa… ” Melissa is a company that I have known for many years – they work with a great roster of designers, and creatives for their collaborative projects/ lines and it felt like a natural move for me to finally do something with them… and of course the whole plastic thing is very up my street! ”
John Lewis held an official launch of their new flag ship store on Oxford Street last week and the Melissa girls were in attendance holding an exclusive Mini Melissa
colouring-in competition for all the children who were visiting the store!
The competition was a great success, with the children very excited at the prospect of colouring-in their favourite Melissas!
It was a hard task to choose the winner back at Melissa HQ, but the Official Melissa Blog is delighted to announce Scarlett Classick as the competition winner! Scarlett has won her very own pair of Melissas and we were delighted with her colouring in piece!
See below for the best bits! x
